‘It’s like a half-remembered dream of the perfect brasserie.’ Tracey MacLeod, The Independent
James Tyrrell is the Executive Chef at L’Escargot - London’s oldest and most celebrated French restaurant and private members club. Famous for it’s bourgeois French cooking and welcoming ambiance, the restaurant offers guests an intimate dining experience and is the perfect place to meet with friends and business acquaintances alike. The furniture is colourful, eclectic and plush; the food is tasty; and the portion sizes offer just the right amount to leave you feeling satisfied. We recommend trying the chilli crab salad. It’s light and bursting with vibrant flavours of chilli, crab and lime.
‘With his light-hearted and genuinely nice demeanour, sense of humour and strong work ethic, combined with his underlying passion for traditional French cuisine and robust flavour combinations, it’s clear why the restaurant chose James as Head Chef. He’s their ethos personified.’
The restaurant is situated in the heart of London’s trendy Soho district, close to all of the theatres, bars and shops; and attracts an eclectic array of guests including Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John, Ralph Richardson, Sepp Blatter, The King of Spain and Dame Judy Dench. Plus, in its rich history, even the late Princess Diana, John Gielgud and Coco Chanel were members. It has one Michelin star.
