The Top 3 Hotels In Bali (For ALL Budgets)

by Travelling Peach

1. The Ungasan Clifftop Resort
This resort is the perfect place to relax and enjoy for families, couples and groups of friends looking to get away from it all and have a fantastic holiday, but with a calm homely atmosphere. The resort houses 16 luxury houses, ranging from 1 bedroom villas to 5 bedrooms, many of which come with their own spacious living areas, kitchens, multiple bathrooms and private swimming pools. Some even have their own personal butlers, chefs, nannies and drivers so that guests can enjoy the very best cuisine from the luxury of their own apartments.

One of the best things about this resort is its close proximity to the private Sunday Beach Club. It’s absolutely fantastic. All you have to do is walk through the resort and take a special cabin down to the beach. (Trust us, the views of the stunning beach and ocean as you travel down the hill through the trees is a one-off experience in itself.) Then, once at the beach, you can enjoy the sparkling clear waters, stunningly clean golden beach, and complimentary water activities including kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba-diving and snorkeling. There’s also a beach bar/restaurant where you can enjoy the freshest seafood and drinks.

(Prices are available on request.)

The Avocado Dream Shake. It’s made from fresh avocado, coconut milk, vanilla ice cream, a little chocolate syrup and is absolutely delicious.

2. Montigo Resort, Seminyak
Montigo resort is a revelation. Each bedroom is spacious, elegantly designed, with a separate living area, its own private garden, and one of the most comfortable king-sized beds imaginable. Moreover, the bathrooms are particularly impressive. They’re spacious and beautifully designed, with more than enough room for both a powerful and refreshing open glass power-shower and a luxuriously deep oval bathtub – perfect for filling with bubbles and sinking into after a long day riding up the mountains to the Sekumpul Waterfalls!

Guests can also enjoy the Montigo Spa, complementary welcome massages and dine at the hotel’s Tiigo Restaurant, where they can enjoy traditional Balinese dishes such as Bebek Goreng (crispy Balinese duck) and healthy breakfasts including avocado and feta on homemade sourdough toast; all freshly cooked before them by the chefs and for fantastically good value. The hotel is situated in the heart of Seminyak’s trendy nightlife area, with hotspots like Potatohead Beach Club less than 15mins walk away. However, it’s worth mentioning that, even through the hotel is so central, we were impressed to find that the rooms were soundproofed so guests can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep, noise-free.

(Prices for an Executive Suite start at £168 / night)

3. Alila Resort, Seminyak
The Alila Resort in Seminyak is located on Bali’s south-west coastline and offers the ultimate luxury getaway for those looking to relax, recuperate and indulge in some fun and healthy activities.

Situated on the pristine beach with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean, and within walking distance from the iconic Potatohead Beach Club and Seminyak nightlife, the hotel is perfect for people looking to relax and enjoy cocktails by the pool in the day, indulging in the occasional spa treatment and Pilates class, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Balinese nightlife in the evening. The hotel is elegantly designed with a stunningly crafted wooden exterior, which incorporates lots of straight lines and angles, exquisitely painted in a rich tree-brown colour; and fabulous expanses of naturally worn tree branches, accessorized with fresh green foliage to fit harmoniously into its stunning environment. Combine this with the beautifully open corridors that lead to the suites, and the large number of open living areas, bars and restaurants; and the whole hotel has an incredible sense of freedom, luxury and being ‘at one’ with nature.

We stayed in one of their ocean suites - a spacious suite, which homes a comfortable king size bed, lounge area and an exotically luxurious bathroom; and balcony with endless views of the ocean. Perfect for enjoying spectacular amber sunsets with a chilled glass of champagne in the evening. We loved this hotel because, although the atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble - but in a subtle, not in your face way, which was appreciated. Guests can indulge in a wide variety of activities ranging from cultural and spiritual, to health and fitness, relaxing spa treatments and Balinese cooking lessons. They are also treated to complementary services, including: yoga; a 24-hour gym; a 20 minute welcome therapy massage; and shuttle service to and from the airport, all designed to make your stay as relaxing, enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

(Prices for an Alila Ocean Suite start at £514/night)
